TUTORIAL
This section of the pattern uses simple lace techniques like yarnovers (yo), knit 2 togethers (k2tog) and slip slip knits (ssk). Traditionally an ssk is worked by slipping each stitch knitwise from the left needle tip to the right needle tip and then knitting them together through the back look. This method works but can be cumbersome and slow, there is a faster method that actually results in a better-looking decrease.
Working a smoother SSK (slip slip knit)
In an effort to keep the clues in this knitalong totally secret the tutorials are shown over stockinette stitch.
Work to the 2 sts that will be decreased using an ssk.
Insert the right needle tip into the first stitch on the left needle tip as if to knit, do not slip off.
Now bring the right needle tip behind the work and slip it into the back loop of the second stitch on the left tip.
Wrap the yarn around.
Pull through both stitches.
And drop both stitches off the needle.

Hi!
I’m wondering how many times we are to repeat the 28 row lace pattern. The instructions say repeat these 28 rows for pattern.
Also, in part 1, the instructions say to repeat the ‘Darkest Night’ section for 26 times. I needed to repeat them 28 times to achieve 180 stitches in all…
Hi Arla, I just updated the repeat information for this clue this morning to make it more clear, you will be working Rows 1-28 of the Starlit Specter Lace Pattern two times total. And for your question about Clue 1, yes you are working 28 rows total, but you are repeating Rows 1-2 26 times. Since you have already worked Rows 1-2 repeating them 26 times makes for 28 rows total. Thanks! Can’t wait to see your finished shawl, xo Meghan
I am confused – is there one set of instructions if you want to use the graph and the other set of instructions written out so you don’t use the graph? Sorry to be so dense.
I cannot get Clue 2 on my Ravelry! Is it just me? lol
Hi Sandra, Yes the chart and the written instructions for the Starlit Specter Lace Pattern are both the same, you can use either the chart or the written, thanks! Meghan
Hi Beverly,
Try going into your library and seeing if it will let you update the file, I did post Clue 2 as an update so it is there, thanks! Meghan
*This really answered my problem, thank you!
